The state government's decision to continue portraying Jayalalithaa's pictures on government funded schemes and displaying her picture at government offices has irked DMK's working president MK Stalin beyond contempt.

Stalin had gone to the level of questioning Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami as to how government money is being spent to celebrate a convict's birthday.

"I believe that the pictures of Jayalalithaa should be removed and the schemes holding her name changed, as she has been pronounced as a convict by the Supreme Court," stated MK Stalin.

Earlier on February 24, Palaniswami had initiated the government funded scheme to plant 69 lakh saplings to commemorate Jayalalithaa's birthday.

Tamil Nadu minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, SP Velumani, condemned Stalin's statement and said, "DMK tried to acquire power using shortcuts and since they couldn't succeed, Stalin is saying such things."

Velumani also said that even in the 4 years of rule, AIADMK will work as a family and see that Jayalalithaa's public welfare schemes are fulfilled.

Not surprisingly, former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam also condemned Stalin's statement.
