He further said that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been running the nation for the past couple of years, the BJP will try to make inroads into Tamil Nadu politics.

However, he also said that Tamil Nadu politics is incomplete without Karunanidhi. Alagiri's comments come in the wake of the party's gala platinum jubilee celebrations for its mouthpiece Murasoli today. The event which will be celebrated with fanfare is expected to have guests like Superstar Rajnikath and Kamal Haasan.

When asked if the Murasoli event is being overlooked by Stalin, Alagiri said that he is unaware of the function and that he was not invited for it. Alagiri also said that he did not know much about the internal strife in AIADMK.

Alagiri, who was expelled in 2014, said that he will join DMK if Karunanidhi invited him. He went on to say that Stalin was not running the party properly. He accused Stalin of helping AIADMK. "He will help AIADMK for his own benefit even if TTV Dhinakaran does not support," said Alagiri.

When asked about Udayanithi Stalin's growing prominence in DMK, Alagiri said that he is unaware of any such development.
