Amidst all this resignation drama, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray backed his senior party member Subhash Desai.

"Those who have levelled allegations against Subhash Desai are also involved in some or the other scam in past. I had word with CM over phone about the resignation. And we both felt there is no need of resignation as independent inquiry is happening in this issue. But, yes, those who are levelling allegations they should first come clean." said Uddhav Thackeray.

But, the Opposition called it as drama of Shiv Sena and BJP. NCP's Nawab Mailk said, "CM should have accepted his resignation like he did in Khadse's case. Let minister Subhash Desai come clean after inquiry."

Where as Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said, "If CM would have accepted resignation of Subhash Desai, then pressure could have mounted on him for resignation of Housing Minister Prakash Mehta. Why there is another set of rule of Eknath Khadde and Subhash Desai? It shows how serious Shiv Sena and BJP are."
