Mamata on Amarnath terror attack: Centre has failed to provide security to citizens

Pulling up the Centre for its failure to provide security, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today blamed the union government for Monday's attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir.

"I feel bad today. Even Amarnath yatris are being killed. This central government can't give protection to its people. There only job is to divide the country between Hindus and Muslims," Banerjee said while addressing a public event in East Midnapore district.

"From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, whole country is burning because of them," she said, lashing out at the BJP lead central government. Reiterating that there was a deep rooted conspiracy to destabilise her state, Mamata alleged that the BJP was stoking the unrest in Darjeeling.

"They are the ones who have set Darjeeling on fire, but we won't allow that. There will be peace in Darjeeling soon...we shall bring peace there. We won't allow their conspiracy to succeed," she said.

"BJP's only work is to divide the country between Hindus and Muslims. Their only work is to burn, kill and run riots...while they themselves roam around the globe," Banerjee said, slamming prime minister Narendra Modi.

On Monday, reacting to the incident in Kashmir, Banerjee had tweeted, "Strongly condemn the attack on Amarnath yatris and the police. Terrorism is unacceptable anywhere in the world."
