Shiv Sena has upped the ante in its attack on the Devendra Fadnavis government.

An editorial in its party mouthpiece Saamana, Sena criticised the government for failing to meet the demands of the farmers. The much-debated loan waiver will come into effect by October 31. In the editorial, Shiv Sena said that the Fadnavis government will be held responsible if any farmer commits suicide during the negotiations.

While the party never shied away from criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, the Sena rarely targeted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Since the past few days, Shiv Sena has attacked Fadnavis accusing him of trying to divide farmers by giving partial loan waivers.

Shiv Sena, which recently announced its support the Maharashtra farmers strike, said that once loans of farmers are waived off the strike will be called off.

"We are of opinion that farmers should stop the strike once all farmer loans are waived off. If Chief Minister increases the base price on milk, farmers should go to his bungalow and thank him. Once he implements recommendations of Swaminathan Commission, the farmers should apologise and make peace with him," read the editorial.
