The trio have cases registered against them under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in Punjab.

They are accused of organizing arms and ammunition for the KLF.

Sources said that a team from the Punjab Police had been camping in Gwalior for a few days after they got inputs about the presence of the wanted men in the region.

Finally, on Wednesday night based on inputs made available by the local police, the trio were finally arrested.

The area around Gwalior and Shivpuri districts in Madhya Pradesh had witnessed similar arrests in the heydays of Punjab militancy in the 1980s and 90s, mainly because the area has pockets of population that came down from Punjab after partition where pro Khalistani operatives found safe havens.

In Punjab too, there has been a spurt in activity between terror groups that had been lying low.

Sources in the security establishment said that while it is too early to call it a revival of militancy, it is clearly a worrying sign.
