Madhya Pradesh: Disgruntled farmer jumps in front of CM Shivraj Chouhan's car

A farmer from Chhattarpur in Madhya Pradesh today jumped in front of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's cavalcade in an attempt to stop his car and meet him.

A farmer from Chhattarpur today tried jumping in front of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's cavalcade.

The incident took place in Bhopal when Chouhan was on his way to the state assembly to participate in a discussion on the adjournment motion on the issue of farmers suicides across the state.

The farmer has been identified as 50-year-old Santosh of Chandla village in Chhatrapur district. According to Santosh, he tried meeting Chouhan on multiple occasions in the past but the chief minister's security detail did not allow him to get close.

"I tried meeting him in the past. I know that he meets people during his 'jan sunwais' but I had no other option but to stop his car today as I was not allowed to meet him," Santosh later said while talking to India Today.

Santosh said also said that he owns five acres of land in Chandla village over which a high tension electricity cable has been constructed. Santosh said the state government has failed to award him compensation for the use of his land.

Following today's incident, the Jehangirabad police took Santosh into preventive custody and the matter is being investigated.

According SHO Jehangirabad TS Thakur, Santosh tried to stop the chief minister's car and the incident is being probed as a potential security breach.
