Vegas Shooting update: Over 50 dead, 400 in hospital after 64-year-old White man rains bullets on a concert

The Las Vegas police identified the shooter as Stephen Charles Paddock, a 64-year-old Nevada resident. His female roommate at Mandalay Bay, Marilou Danley, the woman police was searching for, has been located.

The latest update on the Las Vegas shooting incident confirmed the shooter was a local, a 64-year-old white male, police confirmed.

More than 50 people died and over 400 people were injured after a shooter opened fire at the crowds assembled to enjoy a concert organised at the Mandalay Bay casino as part of the Las Vegas Music Festival. The police neutralised the shooter soon after the attack.

Paul Ryan, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, released a statement condoling loss of lives.

US President Donald Trump tweeted about the tragic incident saying, "My warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting. God bless you!"

The shooting, it seems was sniper-style, with the shooter being perched on the 32nd floor Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. From there, the shooter rained deadly fire toward crowds gathered to enjoy a performance by country music star Jason Aldean.

Aldean was performing at the end of the three-day Route 91 Harvest Festival when the gunman opened fire across the street from inside the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

SWAT teams quickly descended on the concert and the casino, and officers used explosives to get into the hotel room where the suspect was inside, authorities said. The gunman died at the scene. A motive was not immediately known.

Visuals from the Las Vegas Strip from earlier today showed how horrified people were since the moment they heard gunfire.

Cops identified the shooter as Stephen Charles Paddock, 64 years old, a resident of Nevada's Mesquite. Records show Paddock was living with a woman the police was searching for, and has now located - Marilou Danley.

The official Twitter handle of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been active and sharing information with the public. The Sheriff of the LVMPD Joseph Lombardo briefed the media a while ago and confirmed the figures.

The Las Vegas police tweeted about two vehicles they are trying to locate in relation with the investigation about the shooter. In a tweet, the LVMPD said, "We're searching for two vehicles associated with the shooter: Hyundai Tucson Nevada/114B40 and a Chrysler Pacifica Nevada/79D401."

And in a subsequent tweet, said they are in search of a woman -- Marilou Danley -- who is said to have been the shooter's roommate at Mandalay Bay, and LVMPD later tweeted saying they're 'confident' they have located the vehicle and person of interest.

A Twitter user tweeted saying, "Marilou Danley was seen at Mandalay Bay with the suspect," and said that both the suspect and Marilou are 62 years old. The user said the police finds this 'unusual' for 'mass shooters'.

A journalist, @alexsilverman on Twitter, shared a photo clicked from the 31st floor of Mandalay Bay, saying, "Here is a photo from the 31st floor at Mandalay Bay, one below shooter's perch. Clear line of sight to festival grounds at center." The shooter is said to have been on the 32nd floor of the hotel.
