Q. What prompted the idea for the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA)?
I was collecting art for my home because I wanted to live with it. However, over the years, the collection grew and there was no space left at home. This is how the idea of KNMA got its spark.
Q. You're involved in lots of different projects? What do you see as your biggest achievement?
It is the setting up of the museum and being able to showcase the work of Indian artists on a global platform.
Q. Which museums have most impressed you around the world?
The Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Beyeler Art Museum near Basel are quite inspiring in their design.
Q. You are one of the biggest art collectors in India. Is there a piece that is closest to your heart?
It is hard to have favourites. If I say I like one, I instantly feel that another one is equally amazing. However, I do like some M.F. Husains and a Rameshwar Broota-all bought in the 1980s.
