Ashokan had denied permission to a group of 5 women to meet Hadiya earlier today after which the detained man allegedly directed the women to carry out protests.

The women, after leaving Hadiya's house, released a series of videos on social media claiming that Hadiya's family did not let them meet her. According to the video, the women had brought books and gifts for Hadiya but Hadiya's father did not allow them to meet her. Ashokan had also refused to accept the gifts for his daughter.

The women in the video also claimed that they heard Hadiya crying for help. Disheartened by what they heard, the women staged a dharna in front of Hadiya's house alleging violation of human rights. The Vaikom police have taken the man into custody in connection with the incident.

According to Vaikom deputy superintendent of police, the man has been detained for allegedly directing the women to stage protest outside Hadiya's house. Further action will be taken based on the complaint received from Ashokan.

The women claim that the police have unlawfully detained the man and he is married to one of the woman of the protesting group.
