Jammu and Kashmir government arrests JKLF chairman Yasin Malik from Srinagar

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik from Abi Guzar in Srinagar. Earlier, leaders like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and his men were put under house arrest.

Yasin Malik and these leaders were scheduled to attend a function organised to commemorate the 50th death anniversary of Moulana Yusuf Shah.

While Malik was arrested from his office in Abu Guzar area of Srinagar, Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also placed under house arrest on Monday night itself.

Sources in the police say that these detentions and arrests are being made to stop separatists from this meeting.
