Jayalalithaa's followers offer gold, silver worth Rs 1.60 crore to goddess Chamundeshwari in Mysuru

Jayalalithaa's followers in Mysuru have offered gold and silver worth Rs 1 crore and 60 lakh to Goddess Chamundeshwari for Amma's quick recovery.

Not just in Tamil Nadu, but special prayers are being offered in Mysuru also for the quick recovery of J Jayalalithaa.

12 years ago Jayalalithaa visited and offered prayers at the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru and vowed that she will make an offering to Goddess Chamundeshwari.

Today, Amma's followers are fulfilling her vows by offering gold and silver worth Rs 1 crore and 60 lakh to Goddess Chamundeshwari. All this to complete the promise made by Amma so that she recovers soon and takes over as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

Temple sources said that a total of Rs 1 crore 60 lakh was offered and a special pooja was performed. The offerings were made by Jayaylalitha's publication house and the members of her Kodanadu estate.

Offerings at the temple:

  • Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1 crore 18 lakhs were offered to Lord Hanuman. These ornaments are now adorning the deity.
  • A silver arch has been offered to Lord Ganesha along with a gold crown, gold conch shell, gold mace and special ornaments for hands and feet of the deity.
  • A silver adornment for the trunk of Ganesha was also offered.

Jayalalithaa, who has her roots in Melkote town of Mysuru, has always visited the temple on important occasions such as her birthday and after she was acquitted from the cases against her.

In 2004, Jaya was accompanied by her close aide, Sasiklala Natarajan, and during that visit too she had offered a pair of silver lamps to the temple after performing the pooja.

The temple priest Suresh said, "This was a vow she had taken 12 years ago. Today, her followers came and performed a special pooja for her speedy recovery. They came early in the morning and performed the pooja, they even collected a receipt for the articles offered to the temple."
