Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa says threat to her life has increased now

In an interview to India Today, Jayalalithaa's niece J Deepa has said that threat to her life has increased since she started a legal process to stake claim to the legacy of the late chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

"I have threat for my life. For the last 6 months there is a threat but now more threat coming directly from the Sasikala family," Deepa said adding that she has lodged a complaint about everything.

"No action has been taken on the Poes Garden issue. A lot has happened. There was a big conspiracy. Deepak is behind the conspiracy with Sasikala family," she said.

Deepa said since she is a blood relative of Jayalalithaa she can become the general secretary of AIADMK without even a membership.

Deepa Jayakumar is also locked into a battle over claim to AIADMK's 'two-leaves' symbol on grounds of being its 'original curator'.

"So far we have been able to come out with 50,000 affidavits. We have asked the Election Commission to give more time. No need for a primary membership because I am the immediate family," she said.

"Even Sasikala who was not a primary member of AIADMK also stripped of all the posts but was made a general secretary," Deepa said.

On possibilities of BJP extending support, Deepa said she can talk about it when it happens.

"I don't think BJP can change anything in Tamil Nadu but all other initiatives have changed Tamil Nadu," she said.
