A 16-year-old boy was severely injured after he got electrocuted during rail roko agitation in Salem today against Supreme Court's ban on hugely popular bull-taming sport jallikattu.

The incident comes even as protest at Chennai's Marina Beach and other parts of Tamil Nadu entered fourth day today. Jallikattu protests across the state have largely been peaceful.

Piyush Manush, an entrepreneur and activist, posted a video on his Facebook page showing Lokesh, 16, falling from the roof of a train after coming in contact with high voltage wire. The boy, who suffered severe burn injuries, has been admitted to a local hospital.

"Jallikattu protest turns tragic. Lokesh all of 16 years crashed from the train after getting electrocuted. He had joined the group that blocked the train near Salem GH diverting from the protest site for two days. He has suffered 80% burns and his condition is very critical. His mother Pushpa in the GH could not make much sense of what went wrong," Piyush Manush wrote on his Facebook page.

PROTESTERS REJECT CM'S ASSURANCE

Demonstrators today said they will continue their protests across Tamil Nadu till jallikattu is held in the state.

They are not satisfied with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam's assurance that jallikattu would be held in couple of days.

The protesting students at Chennai's Marina Beach and also at Madurai categorically declared that they would call off their protest only after it takes place.

The protestors refused to heed to the request of senior police officials here to disperse after they read out Panneerselvam's statement.

Panneerselvam had earlier said the state government would promulgate an ordinance to conduct Jallikattu and urged the demonstrators to withdraw their protests.
