Former Horticulture Minister Narendra Bragta was denied a cabinet berth. In his place, Shimla MLA Suresh Bhardwaj has been inducted.

Bhardwaj is one of the five new faces: The four others are Vipin Singh Parmar, Rajiv Segjal, Govind Thakur and Vikram Singh.

Nahan MLA (and former health minister) Dr Rajeev Bindal failed to make the cut. However, he will be the Speaker in the Vidhan Sabha.

Ramesh Dhawala, a former cabinet minister and Shanta Kumar loyalist, didn't make the list either.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command has tried to balance caste and regional equations in the Cabinet: Apart from the Rajputs, a Dalit, a woman, a tribal and a Brahmin have been inducted.
