A 19-year-old girl committed suicide in a bizarre way in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, saying it's "thrilling" and that she's "happy with it".

Anushka Singh - a student of Harmilap Mission School in Kanpur - hanged herself to death on Sunday night.

"I have done this because am happy with it," the suicide letter read.

The suicide came as a shocker to her parents, who are well established in the city. Anushka's father is an income tax inspector and she herself was a bright student.

"My parents have always been there for me and I love them. But this suicide is just because it's thrilling for me. It's something new to me," Anushka said in her suicide note.
