RESTAURANT REVIEW
Fusion Fare

It's worth making a long trip to Manesar for Hyatt Regency Gurgaon's Kitchen District. The restaurant has five standalone live kitchens that offer distinctive cuisines, including Mediterranean, Asian, Indian and Japanese. Naturally, the space accommodating these five kitchens is massive yet elegant, and is right next to The Long Bar, which is perfect to indulge in heady and innovative cocktails. Start off on a crunchy note with Zucchini Fritters, which were so good that we wanted to order another two servings. But the next dish-delicious and fresh Melted Goat Cheese with a herb salad-was so good that we quickly forgot all about that. Next came the combination of sushi and sashimi from the Pan Asian kitchen. Try as many kinds as your pocket can afford because this one's a winner. The sushi is just the right amount of chewy and has great texture while the sashimi (not easily available in the city) is fresh and surprisingly well-made. For main course, we settled for Casarecce Pasta, which was perhaps the best decision of the day. Lighter on the stomach than the regular pesto pasta, it tasted perfect even with an oddball combination of green beans and potatoes. Non-vegetarians should not miss their wonderfully-cooked pork belly. Their massive dessert counter makes one spoilt for choice, but choose the chocolate mousse with sea salt, vanilla and olive oil for a perfect, sweet ending. MEAL FOR TWO Rs 3,500 AT Hyatt Regency Gurgaon, NH8, Sector 83, Gurgaon TEL 01246181180

NEW IN TOWN
The Global Platter

Kinbuck 2 is yet another restaurant-cum-pub to open its shutters in Connaught Place, which is slowly limping back to its former glory. The space is divided into two floors and is complete with arches made of red bricks, wine racks, cushioned sofas and a well-stocked bar. The menu claims to be inspired by Roman cuisine, though we couldn't find these influences anywhere. That said, the food here is delicious and the servings are huge and definitely worth your money. Their assorted bread platter with flavoured butters is so good that you might want to make a full meal out of it, but we urge you to also try Al Bondages'-meatballs cooked with vegetables and herbs, fish and chips (served with tartar sauce), mushrooms with cheese and dahi kebabs. Kinbuck's gigantic menu (47 pages long) can be difficult to navigate with long sections divided between various cuisines, but you can't go wrong with dal makhni, butter chicken with naan and Ratatouille. For dessert, we recommend you keep it simple and go for the unpretentious three-layer-chocolate mousse, made from different chocolates. MEAL FOR TWO Rs 2,000 AT P 10/90, Outer Circle, Connaught Place TEL 3310552

Bar Code
There is literally no place in the city that offers such good cocktails along a fantastic DJ who plays Jazz and Blues music. Quote - The Eclectic Bar and Lounge might not impress you much with its food, but if you are looking for a quiet evening with some oldies playing in the background and rounds of Irish Coffee, you've come to the right place. The massive space, which can seat nearly 100 people, is filled with quirky wall art, famous quotes on glass partitions and colourful cushioned sofas. For food, stick to bar bites like wasabi chicken, beer battered onion rings and dahi kebabs. For a bigger meal, the spaghetti in tomato sauce with roasted mushrooms, celery, peppers, red onions and broccoli won't disappoint. MEAL FOR TWO Rs 2,000 AT 2nd Floor, 44 Regal Cinema Complex, Outer Circle, Connaught Place TEL 33105096
