IAF's Sukhoi crashes in Rajasthan's Barmer, pilots eject safely

A Sukhoi (Su-30 MKI) fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed in Rajasthan's Barmer district today. The jet, which was on a routine sortie, crashed near Shivkar Kurla village of the district soon after it took off from Jodhpur air base.
Both the pilots managed to escape unhurt from the aircraft.
The incident came just hours after IAF's Chetak helicopter toppled in Allahabad while attempting to land after pilots detected a technical snag.
In 2014, the entire fleet of Russian-made fighter jet was grounded by Indian Air Force following a crash near Pune. It was cleared for flying later.
It was the longest period for which the fleet was grounded since 2009 when its operation was suspended for nearly three weeks following an accident.
