Sources say that Vinay Kumar has not touched upon the bribe allegations made by Rupa in her report but has submitted his detailed report on how there are lot of illegal activities within the jail.

Speaking exclusively to India Today, DIG Roopa said, "The former IAS officer Vinay Kumar had been asked to submit a report to the government based on my observations. He is not a quasi-judicial body and so, I am given to understand that he has not looked into the corruption charges I have mentioned where Sasikala allegedly paid Rs 2 crores to jail authorities for VIP treatment . But Vinay Kumar's report is very much in line with what I had mentioned in mine."

Roopa had submitted two detailed reports to the then DGP Prisons, H N S Rao, on illegal activities within Bangalore jail. One was VIP treatment given to V K Sasikala and Abdul Delgi within the jail and the other report was about the smuggling of drugs and mobile phones for convicts.

Based on her report, the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamiah had set up a one-man committee headed by former officer Vinay Kumar to look into the matter.

Sources say that the bribery case has not been touched upon as it would need to involve agencies such as the anti-corruption and an internal inquiry by the police department itself.

The ball is now in the state government's court to initiate further probes on the bribery charges that Roopa had mentioned in her reports.
