Interestingly, while on the one hand, Haryana's BJP government left no stone unturned to stop protesters from taking the law into their own hands, party MLA from Ambala Aseem Goyal offered them Dudh-Jalebi near the site of their agitation.

In Short

  • Dudh Jalebi is a traditional, full of energy delicacy: Haryana MLA Aseem Goyal.
  • I even performed Yagna for the success of the Jal-Youdh, says Goyal.
  • INLD is trying to make political capital out of the SYL canal issue, he added.

Despite the fact that the Supreme Court had delivered its verdict in Haryana's favour and has been asking its wary neighbour Punjab to respect the status quo on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal issue, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Thursday went ahead with its plan to 'fight a water war'.

INLD workers thanked the BJP MLA for his gesture and savoured the jalebis and milk. Several passers-by stopped at the dudh jalebi stalls put up by the BJP lawmaker.

BJP MLA WELCOMES INLD PROTESTERS

"I have come from Faridabad and I support Chautala sahab. We were offered dudh jalebi by BJP which I enjoyed. We are thirsty and will drink water wherever there is a well", INLD supporter from Faridabad Pratap Singh Thakur said.

BJP MLA from Ambala City Aseem Goyal was seen welcoming the INLD's protesters. He said that Dudh Jalebi was a traditional, full of energy Haryana treat, adding that he even performed Yagna for the success of the Jal-Youdh (water war).

"INLD is fighting a water war. Being an MLA, I welcomed them and offered them dudh jalebi which gives energy. But people are aware that the INLD is trying to make a political capital out of the SYL canal issue as the Supreme Court has already pronounced its verdict in Haryana's favour," Goyal said.

INLD KEEN TO REGAIN POLITICAL GROUND

Having lost three consecutive assembly elections, INLD is making its last-ditch effort to regain lost political ground. Former Haryana Chief Minister OP Chautala, who is currently on a parole break, has claimed that the next Haryana government will be of the INLD.

The march call to rake up the SYL canal issue was given by Abhay Chautala, who accused the present government of adopting a casual approach to the matter.

"Haryana's BJP government is not serious about the SYL canal issue. Despite the Supreme Court's decision, the government did not act and made no arrangement to get the tunnel constructed", Abhay Chautala said.
