Harassed Kashmiri citizens to have an SOS number to call soon

Though the Centre may be facing heavy criticism at the hands of its opponents for handling of Kashmir situation, which paralysed state for over 50 days, the Ministry of Home affairs (MHA) in an effort to reach out to various segments outside the state. MHA has decided to set up separate control room for Kashmiri citizens. This after, many complaints being brought to notice of Central ministry of complaints of threats and harassment faced mostly by Kashmiri Muslims including students in different parts of the country.

The number of the control room will be announced soon by MHA. The control room can be used by the people of Kashmir to share any security concerns they may have. The control room will be headed by joint-secretary in Kashmir division who will be the nodal officer and receive complaints from Kashmiri youths and co-ordinate between various states for an early disposal of such cases.

The announcement for appointing such an officer was made by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his two-day visit to the Valley recently during which several political parties had raised the issue of harassment of Kashmiri youths in various parts of the country.
