But restoring the original website took a couple of days as the archive was also hacked.

A delegation of BJP workers met the GM to express the slowness. The department then brought the hacking incident to their notice. According to them, the hacking took place at least a week back as even the Google was showing the hacked page in its search instead of the original page.

BJP city president Gama Dubey said that the UP government and its tech-savvy chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has said nothing about Pakistans attempts to take over several official websites of government departments all over the state. He said that the sites should be protected in a better way so that such hacking attempts would fail. He said that the government should employ international law enforcement agencies to track down and punish hackers who are most probably using Pakistan as their base.

Senior IT and cyber security consultant Rakshit Tandon said that most government websites had very lax security protocols and were easy to hack. The security apparatus was in the process of upgrade all over the central government networks and soon even states will adapt similar security protocols. Till then, the best way to protect a website was to use a reliable hosting service.
