The Braj region is known for thousands of brave youth it has given to the armed forces of India. For each brave soldier the Braj region has lost, it has claimed the lives of several terrorists.

Lance Naik Gopal Singh Bhadoria (33), VSM, a native of the Talpura village of Bah Tehsil, was martyred recently in Kulagm of Jammu and Kashmir, after killing four terrorists.

Gopal Singh was honoured with a 'Vishisht Seva Medal' for his bravery in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.

Local residents of the village said that Gopal's father Munim Singh Bhadoria had shifted from the village to Ahmedabad, where he runs a security agency. Gopal's wife Jayshree and two sons Sanjay and Vikram live there.

Gopal, who was the eldest son of Munim Singh, had joined the Rashtriya Rifles in the year 2002 and in the 26/11 terror attacks, he had joined the NSG commando group tasked to clear the Taj hotel of terrorists.

Gopal Singh had carried an injured Subedar Major out of the hotel in the face of heavy firing by terrorists and took him to the ambulance. For this act of bravery, he was given the Vishisht Seva Medal. Recently, he was posted in Jammu and Kashmir where he was martyred while fighting terrorists.

VILLAGERS MOURN THE LOSS

As soon as the news broke in his native, the entire village was immersed in grief and many houses skipped dinner. Even in Ahmedabad, people gathered outside the house of his father and a huge crowd had gathered when Gopal's body arrived in a special flight.

Gopal's photographs and Indian flags were displayed outside every house and on the walls leading to his house and the army vehicle carrying his body was showered with flowers all along the way.

A relative of Gopal living in Braj told India Today that it was a moment of great pride for the village that it gave birth to such a brave warrior.
