Gauri Lankesh murder: SIT to question brother Indrajit, 2 Naxal leaders

The Special Investigating Team (SIT) will once again question Indrajit Lankesh in the murder of his sister, journalist Gauri Lankesh as it is not satisfied with his response from the earlier questioning.

Two Scotland Yard officials, with special expertise in technical investigation, have been roped in to assist the investigating team crack the Gauri Lankesh murder case. The Karnataka Police, had in the past, sought help from the Scotland Yard in the Kalburgi murder case.

The probe team will also question a history-sheeter Kunigal Giri, whose associated were found near Gauri's house. Giri is in judicial custody at the Ballard jail for his involvement in the rampant arms deals in the city.

Police are questioning two former Naxals, Sirimane Nagaraj and Noor Sridhar, who were brought into mainstream by Gauri Lankesh.

SIT team will also visit Vijayapura as it is popular place where unlicensed firearms are made. Vijayapura has recorded the highest number of arrests under the illegal arms act so far.

A team of SIT officials visited the Bangalore Central Jail as well to question various inmates including sharpshooters and contract killers.

While the core SIT team is concentrating on analysing data that may help identify the killer, a group of nearly 40 constables are helping gather information that will lead them to the assailant.

Meanwhile, forensic experts are conducting detailed ballistic analysis and are awaiting a confirmation from the FSL as prima facie it is appeared that the pistol used to shoot Gauri is the same one that was used to killed MM Kalburgi, Govind Pansare and Narendra Dabholkar.
