An egg has been thrown at Biju Janata Dal leader Jay Panda allegedly by supporters of party MLA Pratap Jena in Odisha's Kendrapara district.

Supporters of Jena claimed that Jay Panda did not invite the former for a water tank inauguration event.

The water tank was built from Panda's Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) fund.

HERE IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
  1. It is claimed that Jena and Panda do not share a very good rapport.
  2. The nameplate of the project bearing Panda's name was also vandalised by some untoward elements.
  3. On his part, Jay Panda said, "Allegations against me are false. The plaque which was broken had names of local MLA and officials. I have always ensured that they are invited."
  4. He, however, conceded that people in the party in the last three years had started indulging in groupism. "Some party members have, in these years, started extending support to these goons", the MP said.
  5. Panda later tweeted, "Forget stones and eggs, they can't cow me down even if they use bullets. These MPLAD-funded projects are equivalent to 5.2 million litres of drinking water."
  6. Panda has been facing problems for voicing his opinions on the party's problems. BJD chief and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik sacked him from the party's spokesperson post.
