The Gwalior Municipal Corporation allegedly dumped garbage in front of the office of the state government's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) after its SP issued notice to the municipal commissioner in a property tax related scam.

The EOW is investigating the Gwalior property tax scam on directions from the state high court. On Wednesday evening a notice was served to Gwalior Municipal Commissioner Anya Diwedi after which a dumper full of garbage was found outside the office of SP, EOW, Raghuvansh Singh Bhadoria's.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  1. Raghuvansh Singh Bhadoria, SP, EOW, alleged that the garbage has been dumped in front of his office at the behest of Anya Diwedi, who has been served a notice in connection with the property tax scam.
  2. "It is difficult to sit in the office now because of the foul smell. This has been done on purpose to prevent us from doing our duty," Bhadoria told India Today.
  3. It's been over 48 hours that the garbage was first spotted after the SP's office but the municipal authorities have not bothered to get the place cleaned.
  4. Gwalior Municipal Commissioner Anya Diwedi, however, has denied his involvement in the incident. "I have nothing to do with it," Diwedi said.
  5. The Gwalior EOW is investigating the property tax scam wherein an enquiry is underway against former municipal commissioner Ved Prakash, additional commissioner Shivraj Verma and one Gulab Rao Kale.
  6. Bhadoria has also alleged that an argument ensued between Diwedi and him after the notice was served.
  7. The EOW has also registered a complaint with the Thatipur police station but the police too has not done anything to get the garbage removed.
  8. The EOW has sought clarification from the Gwalior Municipal Commissioner on four points related to the property tax scam which is being investigated on directions from the state high court.
  9. Local MLAs and the city Mayor, who preferred to stay away from the issue, said it is a personal issue between the municipal commissioner and the SP.
  10. Diwedi has courted controversies in the past as well and is known for his arrogant working style.
