Ahead of the municipal elections, the Delhi Congress on Sunday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bhartiya Janata Party for not regularizing the unauthorized colonies. At a convention on unauthorised colonies at Talkatora stadium, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken said that the party will launch a separate manifesto for such colonies for the municipal elections.

"The BJP and the AAP has not done anything for regularization of unauthorized colonies. It was the Congress, which gave provisional certificates to 890 colonies. It is the time for the residents of such colonies to elect Congress in all three MCDs," said Maken.

Over 40 per cent of the population of Delhi resides in 1600 such colonies which are spread across Delhi.

In a bid to woo voters from such areas, Maken promised to clear the layout plan of all unauthorized colonies after coming to power in six months.

"Apart from clearing the layout plan, we will also ensure proper cleanliness in such colonies. More sanitation workers will be hired for cleanliness of such colonies," said Maken.

Elections for all three MCDs-- North, South and East-- are scheduled in April this year. All the political parties are trying to woo the voters from such areas.
