HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED:
  1. According to The Times of India report, the cab driver drove the child and his mother around the city for five hours. During this time, he went to four hospitals and came out with the same answer that the hospital would not admit the child.
  2. During the course of the ride, the driver first tried convincing the mother to not report the accident and later allegedly threatened her with dire consequences.
  3. The four-year-old's condition was deteriorating. Finally, Vasanti Kumari managed to contact her husband from a local phone booth and informed him about the accident.
  4. Five hours after the boy met with the accident, he was rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
  5. Vasanti initially thanked the driver for offering to take her child to the hospital. "As soon as we left our locality, the cab driver stopped his car and asked me to not tell anyone about the accident. I was puzzled," she said, adding that later she told him that she would report the matter to the police.
  6. Everytime the cab driver went inside a hospital, minutes later he would return saying the authorities have refused to admit the child. "He drove us around the city for five hours and took us to four hospitals, including the AIIMS Trauma Center and Hindu Rao Hospital," said Vasanti.
  7. "I was not carrying a cellphone and therefore could not inform anyone about the incident," she said. The accused cab driver was later arrested.
  8. An inconsolable Vasanti said her three other children have been asking her about their brother, and she has not been able to muster courage to tell them what had happened.
