Delhi: Girl from Darjeeling commits suicide fearing live-in partner might not marry her
The victim Teresa.

A 19-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in east Delhi's Mandawali late on Sunday night.

She had been living with her live-in partner in the house.

Fearing that her partner might refuse to marry her and end the relationship due to family pressure drove her to take the extreme step.

TERESA USED TO WORK AT A FIVE-STAR HOTEL

The victim, identified as Teresa, hailed from Darjeeling in West Bengal. She used to work at a five-star hotel here.

Teresa's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside the kitchen.

She was rushed to a hospital by her partner where doctors declared her dead on arrival, police said. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

The live-in partner has been detained by the police for further interrogation.
