In an attempt to take on the naxal brigade in Chattisgarh, the Central government has decided to shift the CRP office located in Kolkata to Raipur.

The office in Kolkata was until now located as a zonal head quarter.

The central government has taken this step to keep a close watch on the naxal menace that has claimed almost twenty five lives of CRP jawans in the last fortnight. The movement includes a herculean task of shifting the base but this is the need of the hour.

Kolkata is around 800 kms away from Raipur, the capital of Chattisgarh which has seen extreme naxal activities in the past few months.

Also, the travelling of officials from the Central Zone Headquarters in Kolkata was dependent on the distance and sometimes even the availability of flights for senior officials.

The shifting of the base will help the entire set up be shifted to the war zone which will help to closely monitor the naxal activities and plan counter attacks as well as further strategies.

The decision has been jointly taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the CRP to ensure a major morale boost to the jawans on ground zero.
