BJP leader K Annamalai has accused the Congress of using the southern state of Karnataka as an "ATM". Speaking to the media, the IPS-turned-politician said that the BJP had warned the people during the Assembly polls about how Congress will use Karnataka as its ATM. "Congress has become desperate because for Congress Karnataka is like an ATM. Even during the assembly elections we had warned, how Congress would use Karnataka as their ATM. They are bleeding the state dry, a state which was in revenue surplus before former CM Bommai left office, has become a revenue deficit now. People are clear and the same mistake will not be made again...All 28 seats BJP-NDA alliance will sweep in Karnataka...," he said. "Law & order is always bad whenever Congress is in power. They do all kinds of appeasement politics. What happened in Hubballi is not only disturbing but extremely worrying...," he added. Notably, Karnataka will be voting in the Lok Sabha elections in two phases on April 26 and May 7.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election speech in Rajasthan's Banswara has sparked a controversy over his references to Muslims, with leaders of the Opposition bloc INDIA calling the speech an attempt to divert attention from "real issues". "This 'urban Naxal' mindset, mothers and sisters, they will not even leave your 'mangalsutra'. They can go to that level... The Congress manifesto says they will calculate the gold with mothers and sisters, get information about it and then distribute that property. They will distribute it to whom - Manmohan Singh's government had said Muslims have the first right on the country's assets," PM Modi said at the rally on Sunday. "It will be distributed to infiltrators. Should your hard-earned money go to infiltrators? Do you approve of this?" PM Modi said. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, reacting to PM Modi's attack on Dr Singh, in a post on the microblogging website X said the Prime Minister now wants to divert the attention of the public from issues. "After the disappointment in the first phase of voting, the level of Narendra Modi's lies has fallen so much that out of fear, he now wants to divert the attention of the public from the issues. Trends have started coming regarding the immense support that Congress's 'Revolutionary Manifesto' is receiving," Mr Gandhi said in the post.

Re-polling started at 11 polling stations in the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency on Monday amid tight security, officials said on Monday. The decision about fresh polling was taken following a directive from the Election Commission, which declared voting held at these stations on April 19 as null and void. The re-polling began at 7 am. Fresh polls are being conducted at Moirangkampu Sajeb and Thongam Leikai in Khurai constituency, two each in Bamon Kampu and Irilbung in Kshetrigao constituency and at Khongman Zone V in Thongju in Imphal East district, three in Iroishemba area in Uripok constituency and at Khaidem Makha in Konthoujam in Imphal West district, he said. Incidents of firing, intimidation, destruction of EVMs at some polling stations and allegations of booth capturing were reported from conflict-hit Manipur, which recorded a turnout of 72 per cent in the two Lok Sabha constituencies - Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur - on Friday.
