Chandigarh stalking: Vikas Barala, Ashish Kumar sent to 2-day police custody

Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala's son Vikas Barala and the co-accused Ashish Kumar were sent to two days police custody today.

Barala and Kumar were produced in magistrate court after hours of questioning.

During the interrogation both the accused denied that they chased, stalked or tried to kidnap the complainant bureaucrat's daughter and a DJ by profession Varnika Kundu.

The accused Vikas and Ashish are believed to have told the police that they were not known to Varnika Kundu. This comes in contrast to the earlier reports that suggested that Vikas had accepted to following the bureaucrat's daughter.

Vikas and Ashish said that they consumed beer on Friday night after returning from a shopping mall.

NO VVIP TREATMENT THIS TIME, ONLY DAL ROTI

Vikas and Ashish spent their first night in prison yesterday. They were only offered simple dal roti and rice to eat which they did not eat. There was no air-conditioner in prison and they only had tea early today morning

ACCUSED APPEARED UNEASY, RESTLESS INSIDE POLICE LOCK UP

Both Vikas and Ashish appeared visibly uneasy and disturbed throughout the night. They did not sleep throughout the night. Vikas was seen walking inside the lock up in tension.

POLICE KEEN TO REMAND THE ACCUSED

Having been criticised for sloppy investigation in the first couple of days of the incident, Chandigarh Police is leaving no stone unturned to complete the probe.

Chandigarh Police chief Tejendra Luthra said that the police will recreate the crime scene. They will take the accused to the route they followed to stalk the victim.
