BMC Election Results: Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana continues to slam BJP even on counting day

Shiv Sena daily Saamana has been unrelenting in its criticism of the Bhartiya Janata Party in the run-up to BMC Election results, and has chosen to not play coy even on counting day.

In a scathing editorial on Wednesday, Saamna declared Shiv Sena the winner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections held on Tuesday and accused the BJP of "misusing power," among other things.

  1. The editorial questions BJP's contribution to the freedom movement as compared to Congress party.
  2. "Only movement was that of Ram Temple led by LK Advani, but now they have even sent lord Ram to exile," it said.
  3. "Congress faced allegations for rising prices, but instead of bringing them down, the BJP too did the same," it said.
  4. The editorial claimed there was no difference between BJP and Congress today. "The BJP has overtaken the Congress in exerting pressure tactics by misusing power," it said.
  5. "Today BJP leaders are shamelessly doubting wives of armymen and the chief minister is silent on the issue," it said.
  6. The editorial also question those demandind a ban on Saamna. "It may be true that the Congress is a monolithic, dictatorial party, but how different are today's rulers from that? Will the ones demanding a ban on Saamana bother to answer?" it said.
  7. The editorial said Shiv Sena "does not live on anyone's favors." "We cannot pawn our self respect. Had we known that we would have conquered several thrones."
  8. The editorial signed off with the claim that Shiv Sena will win "and not get carried away."
