Modi congratulates Devendra Fadnavis after BJP hits new high in Maharashtra civic elections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thanked the people of Maharashtra for BJP's impressive performance in the just-concluded civic elections in the state. He also congratulated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP's state president Raosaheb Patil Danve for their relentless work among the people.

In a series of tweets after the results to the civic elections in ten municipal corporations, including BMC, were announced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mentioned BJP's performance in Odisha panchayat elections. The results in Odisha were announced on Wednesday. Of the total 849 seats, BJP increased its tally from 36 in 2012 to 306, an increase by 8.5 times.

The PM tweeted: "Extremely thankful to the sisters and brothers of Maharashtra for reposing their faith in BJP and in politics of development and good governance? Through hard work, determination and work on the ground, BJP is now a strong force both in urban and rural Maharashtra. Congrats to karyakartas."

In a special mention of the Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP's state president, he said, "I congratulate the entire team of @BJP4Maharashtra, CM @Dev_Fadnavis & @raosahebdanve for working tirelessly among the people."

He said BJP is unwavering in the resolve to serve Maharashtra with unparalleled diligence, transparency and taking the state to even greater heights.

Coming to Odisha, he said, "It has been a great start to 2017! First the unprecedented support in Odisha and now the overwhelming blessings from people of Maharashtra."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked each and every Indian for "continuously placing their faith in BJP".

He said, "We are working determinately to create a strong and inclusive India."
