Bihar Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav slams BJP for creating din in Assembly over Mastan's 'slipper' remark

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav has slammed the BJP for creating ruckus inside the state Assembly for the third consecutive day over Minister Abdul Jalil Mastan's remark in which he encouraged his supporters to beat Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pictures with shoes and slippers. BJP has not allowed both the lower and upper house to function, demanding that Mastan be sacked from the Nitish Kumar cabinet.
At a rally in Purnia on February 22, Mastan had called PM Modi a "Naxal" and a "dacoit" and had encouraged his supporters to beat PM's pictures with shoes and slippers.
Although Mastan had apologised for his act after a controversy broke out over the remark, the BJP is in no mood to spare him. This seems to have annoyed the deputy Chief Minister.
- "How far is it justified to stall the proceedings of the House when the minister has apologised for his comments?", questioned Tejaswi Yadav.
- Tejaswi took a swipe at Modi, stating that his behaviour did not behove of a Prime Minister. He said Modi's recent comments did not appear to be coming from the Prime Minister of a culturally rich and diverse country like India.
- "The Prime Minister belongs to the entire country and not just to a party or community. Remarks made by Modi are not appropriate", Tejaswi said.
- He said that taking insult to the Prime Minister as an excuse, BJP was not allowing the Assembly to function and wasting the taxpayers' money.
