Bangladesh: 3 neo-JMB members arrested from Chapai Nawabganj in anti-militant operations
Anti-militant operation

Three people were arrested from Gomastapur of Chapai Nawabganj district on Wednesday as the anti-militant campaign in Bangladesh is going on.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid on Wednesday at Nachole and Gomastapur upazilas of the district. The search operation were conducted in four houses of two upazilas.

After the operation, Commander of the RAB-5, Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Alam said the searches were carried out after the arrest of 3 people and they are the members of the neo-JMB Sarwar-Tamim Group. The security agencies claimed that this group was responsible for the Gulshan cafe attack last year.

He further said, "3 people were arrested at night, they are neo-JMB members. Besides, the person who was arrested on Wednesday will be interrogated. "Action will also be taken against him, if he is involved in militancy."

ARMS RECOVERED

Alam added that 4 foreign pistols, a toy pistol, 12 round bullets, 3 magazines, a cartridge and 3 kg gun powder were recovered during the search operation. The neo-JMB members arrested are: Abdur Sakur alias Sukuddi (33), Saiful Alam (43) and Jahangir Alam (43).

Alam said that the anti-militancy campaign will continue even after 4 search operations were completed.

In the last couple of months, 70 militants have been killed in at least 16 anti-militancy operations across the country.
