In a shocking incident, a youth had to carry his father's body on a cart as he was denied an ambulance by the civil hospital in Jalandhar. He could not even managed Rs 400 to pay for a private ambulance. But, later after managing Rs 150, he took the body in an auto.
Sarabjeet's father, Munesh Kol, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and he passed away on Thursday.
After his father's demise, when Sarabjeet demanded an ambulance from the hospital, he was informed that they do not have ambulance service. And, when he tried to arrange a private ambulance, they demanded Rs 400, which he could not arrange.
"The driver of the private ambulance demanded Rs 400, but I had no money to pay. Later, one of my relatives brought a cart and we took the body on it," said Sarabjeet.
When asked about the whole incident, medical superintendent Kamaljeet Singh Bawa said that they do not have facility to carry dead bodies back to their homes and added that the same has been conveyed to the government.
The civil hospital officials said they only provide ambulance facility to bring patients to the hospital.
