Also on April 29 a Ludhiana SHO Davinder Chaudhary, ASI Buta Singh and constable Swaran Singh were placed under suspension for compelling a 26-year-old youth to commit suicide.

A 55 year old farmer Masih, resident of Khera village in Gurdaspur district, had ended his life last month by jumping before a train. It was alleged that police inspector Vidya Sagar had tortured the farmer in the police station and was demanding money for his release from the family. The cop was suspended after deceased's family members protested.
