Afghan national arrested at Delhi's IGI airport, cash worth 41,500 dollars seized

The accused, identified as Faizan Shir Ahmad, could not explain why he was carrying foreign currency worth Rs 28 lakh. He was later handed over to customs.

An Afghan national was on Tuesday arrested at the IGI airport in Delhi as he was about to fly to Kabul. Alert CISF guards noticed some suspicious behaviour by the national identified as Faizan Shir Ahmad. He was interrogated and after being searched, a sum of 41,500 dollars was recovered from him.

Ahmad is a businessman, who on being questioned, could not explain why he was carrying foreign currency worth Rs 28 lakh. He was later handed over to customs.

"Since demonetisation of currency, CISF personnel have been on high alert", a senior officer said.
