The workers upped their ante on the Nitish Kumar government and alleged that it was because of the soft approach on terrorism by the government that pro-Pakistan slogans were raised on the streets of Patna.

WILL NOT TOLERATE ANTI-NATIONAL ACTIVITIES: ABVP

ABVP workers said that they would not tolerate any kind of anti-national activity and demanded a crackdown by the government on those who shouted the slogans.

"We will not tolerate pro-Pakistan slogans in India. Student community in the country is very angry. The government will have to act upon the accused persons. Bihar government should not play vote bank politics or else we will further our movement across the state", said Nikhil Ranjan, an ABVP protestor.

SUSHIL MODI SLAMS NITISH GOVERNMENT

Meanwhile, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi lashed out at the Bihar government for dealing with the matter in a slack manner.

Speaking exclusively to India Today, Modi raised serious concern over the pro-Pakistan slogans and said such a thing never happened in Bihar.

"This is a matter of great concern. This has never happened on the streets of Patna. If a protest march to support Zakir Naik is carried out, it's very serious. Even Bangladesh has alleged that terrorists who carried out attacks in Dhaka were inspired by his speeches," Modi said.

He said that the government should not take this issue lightly and arrest everyone who carried out Friday's protest march without permission and shouted anti-India slogans.

Modi cited the example of Indian Mujahideen founder Yasin Bhatkal's arrest from Bihar in 2012 and said that then also the Bihar government had refrained from questioning the dreaded terrorist because of vote bank politics.

"Few years back several Indian Mujahideen operatives were arrested from Bihar. The Bihar police at that point never questioned Yasin Bhatkal. This shows that Bihar government is soft on terror and terrorists. What is shocking is that JDU calls Ishrat Jahan Bihar Ki Beti", said the former Deputy CM.

PROTEST CARRIED OUT WITHOUT PERMISSION

The Patna police, which had arrested Mohammad Taufiq, Secretary of the Mithilanchal unit of Popular Front of India, informed that searches were being carried out to apprehend others who had participated in yesterday's march and had raised pro-Pakistan slogans.

In the latest development, the police has said that Friday's march did not have permission.

"The protest march carried out by Popular Front of Bihar did not have permission from the administration. When we received complaints that pro-Pakistan slogans were shouted at the march, we registered an FIR and are investigating the matter," said Patna SSP, Manu Maharaj.

Maharaj said, "Charges related to indulging in anti-national activities and hurting the communal sentiments has been slapped against the accused. One person has been arrested and searches are going on to arrest the rest of them. Video footage has been sent for forensic examination."

FRIDAY'S PROTEST MARCH

On Friday, the protesters under the banner of 'Popular Front of Bihar' had raised pro-Pakistan slogans attacking the Centre on Zakir Naik controversy.

The protesters alleged that there was a conspiracy to target and malign the Muslim leadership in the country.

These workers of the Popular Front alleged that the Centre was cracking down on Zakir Naik and troubling him without any reason. Sympathizing with Zakir Naik, they demanded that the Bihar government should intervene into the matter and pressurize the Centre to stop the witch-hunting against Naik.
