Kochi: The Vigilance department has closed the nepotism case registered against former minister E P Jayarajan and the bar bribery sabotage case against ADGP Sankar Reddy.
The Vigilance informed the High Court that there is no substance in the complaints filed in both the cases.
The case will be considered again on June 6.
The Vigilance had informed the court on Monday that nepotism case won't stand legal scrutiny. None of the accused in the nepotism case have made financial gains. Second accused PK Sudheer, also did not make any gains as he did not take charge even after his appointment, Vigilance DySP V Shyam Kumar told the court.
The court severely criticised the Vigilance. The High Court told the Vigilance that FIR should not be filed because of public sentiments. The Vigilance does not have the authority to re-evaluate cabinet decisions. Vigilance department is a part of police. Even the governor has limited powers, the court said.
