Kollam: The rebel faction that opposes SNDP leader Vellapally Natesan has won 10 among the total 97 seats in the elections to the SN trust (Kollam region).
The rebel faction could conduct the elections to the SN trust after a legal battle in court. Apart from Kollam, elections were also held in Thiruvananthapuram and Varkala. Candidates were selected through consensus in all other regions.
Last time, the panel led by Kilimanoor Chandrababu won from Varkala, the region in which the SN Trust has the largest influence. The region witnessed a strong fight as Vellapally faction tried to capture Varkala while Chandrababu was all bent to retain the seats.
231 candidates contested in Varkala to select 117 board members. The elections were held under the direct supervision of the High Court.
