As part of this plan, the KMRL has awarded the names of five stations—Aluva, Kalamassery, Edappally, Kaloor and MG Road—to private companies. It has earned Rs 15.2 crore by branding the stations.

These stations will carry the names of the brands for three years.

The highest amount was secured by Edappally and the lowest by Kalamassery station. The Muthoot Pappachan Group secured the right for the names of Aluva, Kalamassery and Kaloor. Edappally and MG Road stations went to Oppo.

The companies will also get 2500 square feet space in and outside the stations.
