Kozhikode: The family of Shajeer, who is suspected to have left Kerala and reached Afghanistan’s Nangahar province to join the terror outfit ISIS, received a photo of his dead body through a social messaging app Telegram. Shajeer’s photo was sent by one of the 21 Malayalees who had left for Nangahar to reach the IS camp.
32-year-old Shajeer Managalasseri Abdulla who had finished his studies from NIT Calicut hailed from a middle class family and is suspected to be the kingpin of the Islamic Sate module in Kerala. The message sent by a Malayali who is based in the IS camp says that Shajeer was killed in the Afghan attack and a picture of his body too was attached along with the message.
The news about the death of Sajeer M. Abdullah and a picture of his body was received on the mobile of a man, whose relative is among the 21 Keralites who left their homes here to join the IS, said the official of the Kerala Police's intelligence unit.
However there was no information about time and cause of Abdullah's death.
If the news is to be believed, then Shajeer is the 4th Keralite to be killed. The message says that Shajeer was killed in the US bomb attack on April 13.
Hafeesudhin, Murshid Muhammed and Yahu alias Bestin Vincent were the other Keralites who were killed, according to the messages received by their family members. The messages were send by Ashraf, it is learnt.
