Thrissur: Founder of several educational institutions and founder Director of Amala Hospital Fr Gabriel Chiramel passed away at Amala Bhavan here on Thursday. He was 103.
Fr. Gabriel Chiramel, who was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2007, was a visionary educational leader, teacher, organizer and a public activist.
He had played a major role in the formation of Chalakkudy Carmel English Medium School, Palakkad Bharat Matha School, Kozhikode Deepthi Bhavan, Irinjalakkuda St. Joseph College and Irinjalakkuda Catholic Centre.He is a member of the CMI congregation.
The funeral will be held at Irinjalakkuda on Saturday at 2 pm.
