Thiruvananthapuram: In a tragic incident, four persons lost their lives after they were caught under a landslip at Pangappara here on Monday afternoon.
The mishap occurred at a site where the construction of a flat was in progress. Majority of the labourers at the accident spot belong to other states. Five persons, including two Keralites were trapped under the soil.
The deceased have been identified as Haranad Burman of Bihar, Bhojan, Safan and Vengode native Unnikrishnan.
The local residents, police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel managed to rescue Sudarshan of Vengode. He has been admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
All the four bodies have been retrieved.
A heap of earth fell on the workers from a height of 25 feet as they were engaged in the construction of the protection wall.
Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V Prasanth, who visited the spot, said an instruction has been given to officials to check whether the builder obtained necessary sanctions.
Senior officials, including Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, headed the rescue efforts.
