Thiruvananthapuram: The government has fixed the monthly salary of Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) chairman V S Achuthanandan.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan signed the file in this regards.
Having cabinet rank, VS will be getting payment equivalent to that of ministers.
The government’s action comes after opposition raising the topic in Assembly. The opposition had pointed out that the government has not fixed the salary for ARC chairman even after he assuming the post nine months ago.
When asked about the details of salary and other allowances in Assembly, Pinarayi had responded that VS has been allotted cabinet rank. He had added that the government is checking the remuneration and other allowances of ARC chairman.
The wages of other commission members are being considered by the government, the CM had said.
Meanwhile, Pinarayi also informed the house of the expenses incurred on the travel and remuneration of the CM and other ministers.
For treating guests, the cabinet members spent a total of Rs 36,70,499. The CM alone spent Rs 15,19,248 under this head.
