New Delhi: The Indian Air Force said on Wednesday that Sqn Ldr D Pankaj and Flt Lt S Achudev, the pilots of the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI aircraft sustained fatal injuries.
The aircraft had crashed approximately 60 km from Tezpur airbase on May 23 while on a routine sortie.
The IAF said that the analysis of the Flight Data Recorder of the aircraft and certain other articles recovered from the crash site revealed that the pilots could not initiate ejection before the crash.
The wreckage of the aircraft was earlier located on May 26 after continuous search operation in the area.
The Sukhoi aircraft took off around 10.30 am on May 23 and had gone off the radar and lost radio contact around 11.10 am, when aircraft was around 60 Kms from Tezpur.
The aircraft was on a routine training mission as part of a two aircraft formation.
Flt Lt S Achudev, one of the two pilots of the Sukhoi-30 MKI fight, is a native of Kozhikode. The other pilot, Sqn Ldr D Pankaj, is from North India.
Achudev is the son of Sahadevan and Jayasree from Vallikunnuparambil in Panniyurkulam. Sahadevan retired from ISRO and presently resides at Thiruvananthapuram.
