Speeding ambulance kills two-wheeler rider
A 26-year-old motorcycle rider was killed on the spot and the pillion rider severely injured when the two-wheeler they were riding was rammed by an ambulance on JC Road on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Amjad Pasha, a resident of Sudhamanagar.

Police say Amjad, a butcher, was returning home on his motorcycle along with his friend, Imran, after attending a family function in Sarakki. Amjad had flouted the one-way rule on H Siddaiah Road and was heading towards Kalasipalya. An ambulance coming from Town Hall towards Minerva Circle, also in the wrong direction on the one-way road, rammed into the two-wheeler from the left.
The impact sent Amjad flying about 20 metres. Amjad, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, sustained severe head injuries. He was rushed to Victoria Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police said the ambulance driver was speeding. He had picked up a patient from Victoria Hospital and was heading to a private hospital.
Kalasipalya police seized the ambulance after shifting the patient it was carrying to another ambulance. A case has been registered against the driver, but he has not been arrested. Police say Amjad had got married only a couple of months ago. Imran, who is also a butcher, was discharged after being treated at the hospital.
