Gandhis slam BJP for stalling Parliament
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday slammed the opposition parties, particularly the BJP, for stalling parliament every day to ensure that important bills are not passed.

Kick starting the party’s Lok Sabha poll campaign in a rally at Kochi on Saturday, the Congress president regretted that the government was still unable to pass Women’s Reservation Bill for lack of consensus, even though it has been adopted in the Rajya Sabha. Blaming the opposition for it, Sonia said the party will continue to fight to pass the bill.

“There are many other bills. The opposition is not willing to pass these bills or fight corruption and keeps on stalling the Parliament proceedings every day to ensure these bills are not passed,” she said.

Sonia cautioned against the change promised by the BJP, which is to give up the values cherished by the country such as unity and secularism.

“The BJP's real intention is to change India's real heart and soul. It spreads falsehood and lies and assumes many masks for the purpose of winning an election. They pretend to be ‘moderate’ for electoral convenience,” she said.

Meanwhile, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi at a campaign in Belgaon, charged the BJP with ignoring corruption in states ruled by it and blocking passage of six anti-graft bills by Parliament.

“Six anti-graft bills are pending in parliament, which give power to the people. Who is stalling their passage?” Rahul questioned. With Agency Inputs
